iSMSS- Institute for Sexual Minorities Studies and Services

Today is October 3, 2016. Today My partner Jennifer begins her new position in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta in iSMSS, Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services. Today marks 40 days until my 40th birthday.

iSMSS provides an abundance of services to the LGBTQ2+ community in Edmonton, in Alberta, and as they grow, across Canada.

The value of iSMSS to the LGBTQ2+ community is unquantifiable. There are SO many programs and services offered that support youth, adults, families, in positive, empowering, life-changing ways. It's impossible to list them all and do all justice. Please visit the website to get a glimpse (even the website does not capture the huge range of programs and services) of the work being done to assist vulnerable members of the LGBTQ2+ community as well as the research and advocacy being done to fight discrimination and eliminate prejudice against our community.

iSMSS is SOOO important in our world.

On a personal level, I am so proud of my amazing partner that she is now the Manager of Programs and Services at iSMSS. She is going to make an already amazing Institute even more amazing, not by doing everything herself, but by the way she inspires all around her to reach further, do better, and embrace her vision and passion. As the first female-identified leader of a major LGBTQ2+ organization (THE major LGBTQ2+ organization) in Alberta, she's also forging new territory for women.

I open my 40 day countdown with a donation to iSMSS. You can do so as well at the link below (select the yellow "Give Now" button on the right sidebar of the webpage.)
